Current versus revised SG Taxi fare modelling (Dec 2011)

I ran a hourly static taxi fare modelling comparing between current and up-coming revised fare to establish on the change pattern of our taxi fare structure. (see modelling illustration as below)

Based on inputs from newspapers article dated 6th and 7th Dec, here are some finding after doing up the modelling.

1) Revised rate translates roughly to an average fare increase of 18.9% across for all commuters.

2) With changes on peak-hour surcharge duration, one should avoid the following hours with highest fare hike rate:

- 6am to 7am & 8pm to 12nm =>  +34%

3) There is fare reduction (less 1%) at the following hours due to surcharge reduction from 35% to 25%

- 7am to 9:30am & 6pm to 8pm

4) There will be saving if you often commute between 5pm to 6pm (less 21%) due to removal of perk hour surcharge at this period.
